Bout of Books 18 - I'm participating!

Bout of Books 18 I'm not sure how much reading I'll be able to get in that week since that's the first week that I'm starting my new job, but I have been wanting to participate in a read-a-thon for a while now and I've done this one in the past and loved it, so figured I'd give it a go again. Here's the official blurb from the Bout of Books Blog - be sure to check it out so you can sign up as well!

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 2nd and runs through Sunday, January 8th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 18 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

I'll be keeping track of my progress >>here<<, so feel free to stop by and leave me some encouragement!

Bout of Books Bookish Survey Challenge

Bout of Books

Update:
It is 8:42 am right now. I've been awake for approximately 2 hours and have yet to do any reading. As soon as I finish this post, I'll be finishing up a few quick things, grabbing some breakfast and then hitting the books.

Click here to check out my progress so far

This is the first challenge of The Bout of Books. It is hosted by Writing My Own Fairytale. Basically, you just answer the questions.

#1. How do you organize your bookshelves?
At the moment, I am in a temporary living situation, so I only have a very small shelf for my books and they are just on there however they fit. Once I move, I plan to have an entire shelf for my Harry Potter book collection (and my new pop vinyls when they ship). I also plan on arranging my series together in order and then I want to do the rest of the books in rainbow color order. I don't know if I'll end up keeping it like that, but I want to try it out for a little bit and see how I like it.

#2. What is one of your favorite books that not in one of your favorite genres?
For this one I have to go with Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I am obsessed with that book and I recommend it to absolutely everyone. I don't usually like a lot of sci-fi books, but this one had so many different elements to it and I loved it.

#3. What is the last 5 star book you read?
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4)

#4. What book are you most excited to read during the readathon?
I don't really have a TBR picked out because if I do that, I tend to think of it more as required reading and then I lose my desire to read. I'll just be picking up whatever calls to me.

#5. What book do you recommend the most?
Red Queen (Red Queen Trilogy, #1)

Leave me a link to your post and I'll check it out!

Bout of Books Scavenger Hunt

Bout of Books

The Bout of Books Scavenger Hunt is one of the first challenges as part of the Bout of Books readathon. The challenge is hosted by The Book Monsters.  I posted all of my images on Instagram so feel free to go check them out there!

1. A book that begins with "B".
I chose Burn for Burn by Jenny Haan. I have not read this, but hope to get to it one day.

2. A book that has been made into a movie/tv show.
I chose A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I loved this book was I was younger and recently found this gorgeous edition at Barnes and Noble.

3. A series you love.
I chose Shugo Chara! by Peach-Pit. I have only read this first book in this manga series, but I love it so much. It is super cute and I'm also really excited to start watching the anime.

4. An anthology of poems or short stories.
I chose The Wizard of Oz the First Five Novels by L. Frank Baum. I'm moving and most of my books are packed in boxes right now so this was the closest I could get to finding a book that fit into this category.

5. A book on your TBR shelf.
I chose Precious Blood by Tonya Hurley. Look at the cover of this one!

Bout of Books is Coming!!

Bout of Books

I've been itching for another read-a-thon to participate in and I discovered that this one begins the day after my last day of work at my current job. I'm going to be moving across the country soon, so I'm taking some time off from work to get things packed up and ready to go, but first, I'll be taking the week of Aug. 18 - 24th off from everything except for reading!

Here's the official blurb from the Bout of Books Site:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 18th and runs through Sunday, August 24th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 11 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

The Rainbow of Books Challenge is hosted by Neon Yeti Reads as part of the Bout of Books Readathon. This was a little bit of a challenge for me, as I'm moving soon and most of my books are packed up in boxes. But here's what I found for my rainbow book tower:
